What are the typical questions asked when calling to receive a price quote?

How much does it cost for replacement?
Well do you have any of these attachments on your windshield?

1. Blue Shade or band that runs along the top of your windshield horizontally about 6 inches below the roof.
2. Black Dots called a Third Visor Frit around your rearview mirror.
3. Condensation Sensor, Light Sensor, Rain Sensor.
4. Heated - there will be grayish, orange or reddish horizontal lines near the base of your windshield wipers
5. Has your windshield ever been replaced before?

Do you offer mobile service?
No all of our work is performed here at our shop in a controlled environment out of the elements of rain, snow, sun and wind.

How long will it take to replace my windshield?
Depending on the type of vehicle you drive it may take 2.5 to 4.5 hours to replace including the Safe-Drive-Away-Time. Luxurious vehicle seems to take the latter time do to extra attachments on the windshield.

What does Safe-Drive-Away-Time mean?
The time it takes for your vehicle to be driven safely after the windshield has been replaced. Here at Able Auto Glass in Houston, TX we document the time the glass is set and only use BetaSeal One with a 1-hour SDAT.

While we cannot say much about "In House Certification," the National Auto Glass Association is an industry recognized organization.

I have an E-Z Tag on my Windshield. Are you able to transfer the sticker to the new windshield without damaging the tag?
By using a heat gun and a sharp razor blade after the windshield has been removed we are able to transfer the E-Z Tag without damage. We can transfer all other window stickers as long as they are not damaged. See Video

What brand of glass will you use on my windshield replacement?
Most customers want the best price in which the brands may vary; but by your request we will install dealer or an OEM brand glass. In some cases the OEM brand price may only vary $50 to $100 and we will quote these too.

What is your warranty on front windshield replacement?
We offer a lifetime warranty against leakage when rust is not present on the pinchweld or near the seal.

Quarter Glass Replacement Q and A


Quarter Glass is normally located on the behind the driver in extended cab pickups. In 4 door sedans the glass is located on the body behind the passenger door. On coupes, utility vehicles and vans it is the last window on the side before the back glass. This glass maybe stationary or movable. The quarter glass maybe considered by some as the cargo glass or side window. It is typically the last glass in the vehicle on the side before the back glass.

Depending on the type of vehicle you drive it may take 1 to 3 hours to replace including the vacuuming up the broken glass inside of the door. Please do not attempt to roll or bring the window switch to the closed position while glass is broken as the window regulator may break.
